WhatsApp: Make stickers yourself - that's how it works


WhatsApp stickers are very popular since their introduction in Messenger. In this practical tip, we'll show you how to easily create your own sticker set.

With some apps it is possible  to create stickers for WhatsApp without any programming knowledge. We'll explain how it works using the Sticker Maker Studio app. The app is available for Android and iOS .

  1. Download and open the app in the Google Play Store  or App Store .
  2. Select the button "Create a new sticker pack."
  3. Give your package a name and an author. Confirm with "Create":
  4. Now select your newly created package and then add your stickers by tapping the Free Images.
  5. You can choose your images from the gallery or your file explorer, or you can take a new photo. After you have selected a picture, confirm with the check mark in the top right corner.
  6. On the next screen, you can cut out the area to be inserted later as a sticker. You have a freehand tool to choose from or choose "Cut Rectangular" or "Cut Out Round".
  7. Then confirm your selection with "Save".
  8. As soon as you have added all the desired stickers to your package and have also selected an icon for your package above, you can add the sticker package to WhatsApp with the item "Add to WhatsApp".


Create a sticker app on the computer

WhatsApp also offers the ability to create an Android app with your own stickers that can be installed on other Android smartphones. For this you need a computer and the program "Android Studio".

On the official WhatsApp website the most important information and the app template are available.

With simple Android Studio knowledge you can create your own APK file from your stickers.
Instead, replace the sample images in the file and give your stickers in Android Studio a name and the respective emojis that should be linked to the sticker.
